Booking Terms & Conditions


Arrival & Departure

Check in: Is available from 4.00pm to 6.00pm on the day of arrival. Check-in times outside of those specified must be confirmed with us prior to arrival.

Check out: We ask that you please vacate your room by 10.30am on the morning of departure. We can keep your luggage until your departure if required.



Bookings must be secured with a 50% deposit.

Payment is due on the morning of departure and we accept the following methods of payment: Falkland Pounds, Sterling, US dollars and Euros. We do not accept either personal or business cheques. (Unfortunately, we cannot accept credit/debit cards at this time).



You have access to the building and your room 24 hours a day throughout your stay using a set of keys given to you when you register on arrival. You have full responsibility of these keys for the duration of your stay. Replacement of lost keys will be charged at £25 per set.



All prices are per night and include breakfast and daily housekeeping.

There is no minimum nightly period that guests are required to stay.

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. This does not affect bookings already made.


Cancellation by Guest

We are a small business, so cancellations can have a big impact on us, especially if we have turned away potential guests in favour of someone who has already booked and then cancels. We do, however, appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can intervene, and we try to be as sympathetic and helpful as possible in such cases.

There will be a charge of 50% of the accommodation fee if a cancellation is made within 30 days before the date of arrival, for less than 30 days the full fee will be charged.

Guests failing to arrive without notification may be responsible to a charge equivalent to the total reservation price.

We take all bookings in good faith, as we are unable to judge reasons for change, cancellation or non-arrival. Guests are reminded that no exceptions to the above conditions will be made.



In the event of an international booking being cancelled by the guest (having paid the required 50% deposit to secure the booking via bank transfer), it will be necessary to deduct £10 from the deposit for processing fees.


Cancellation by Us

Should it become necessary for us to cancel a booking we will contact you immediately. Any payments made will be refunded in full. Should you wish to, we will attempt to book you into another local B&B of the same or similar grading in a similar standard of room(s).


Please Note – The Pale Maiden B&B cannot be held liable for costs incurred/payments made where booked guests do not utilise pre-booked/paid for accommodation at short notice.

An example of this would be where booked guests are unable to arrive as a consequence of flight delays.

As such instances would occur within 24 hours of a confirmed booking taking place, a standard 100% fee is charged.

We highly recommend that you please have adequate travel insurance to cover such unforeseen incidents so that you can reclaim any portions of your pre-booked trip that you are unable to utilise.


Safety Deposit Box

We have a safety deposit box on the premises that you may store your valuables upon request.



We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees whilst acting in the course of their employment.


Lost Property

The Pale Maiden B&B will not be held responsible for lost property and or theft from rooms so please ensure they are locked when going out for any reason. We are happy to return items that have been left following departure and we reserve the right to makes charges to cover postage and packaging.


Damage and Breakages

We take great pride in providing excellent facilities and high levels of cleanliness.

The Pale Maiden B&B reserves the right to seek immediate compensation for any breakages and/or damages to the property and/or its contents, owing to malicious and/or negligent actions of guests. Please report these as soon as they occur.


Missing Items

We reserve the right to charge for missing items.


Returning to your room

While you have access to the building and your room (via your keys) at any time of the day or night, we politely ask that you consider the other guests and keep noise to a minimum if returning late.


Food in rooms

Please note that neither food nor alcoholic drinks brought in from outside can be consumed on the premises as per our Terms and Conditions to which you agree to upon booking. Guests found breaking this policy will be liable to a deep cleaning levy equivalent to at least one night’s accommodation.



Pets are not permitted in the house or on the adjoining land.



The Pale Maiden is a Non-Smoking and Non-Vaping Property

Please be aware that it is illegal to smoke in any business premises in the Falkland Islands.

You are respectfully reminded that smoking and vaping are not allowed anywhere within the establishment and we request that you refrain from smoking or vaping whilst in the house or on the front terrace.

Should you smoke in your room, our fire system will activate and penalty charges will be applied.

You may smoke or vape in the car park. Please dispose of your cigarette ends responsibly using the sand bucket provided.
