Pre Arrival
Getting to The Pale Maiden
From Mount Pleasant Airport: You can organise travel from Mount Pleasant Airport to Stanley by chauffeur-driven car or shuttle bus through Falkland Islands Tours & Travel or with Penguin Travel.
Within Stanley: A taxi service is available once you get into town or we will be a few minutes walk from most drop-off locations if you are travelling light.
We are situated approximately 5 minutes walk from Ross Road, the road that runs along the waterfront. The walk is mainly uphill for approximately half a kilometre.
Special Requirements
If you have any allergies, dietary requirements, need large print or storage for medicines, we will try to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability and may need information in advance of your stay. Please contact us with your requirements.
The Building
Access to the building
From the roadside, the entrance is visible and locate approximately 15 metres along a path that contains 6 downward steps.
A driveway is alongside the path so it is possible to alight from a vehicle straight onto the path and avoid all steps to the entrance.
The building is sited on a hill and so both the upper and lower floors are accessible from street level.
Access to your room
Once inside, the upper floor rooms are located to the left and right within the first few metres of entering. The lounge is at the end of the corridor with a staircase to the lower floor in the middle.
The rooms on the lower floor are accessed from the entrance and then via the interior staircase that is comprised of 13 steps.
Lighting
Exterior lighting is appropriately placed around the building. Inside, hall lights are motion activated while room lights are controlled by switches.
Fire and Safety
Emergency Exits
The entrance is the primary escape route for the upper rooms; the lower rooms have a door accessing the rear of the building. Inside each room is a clear path of escape on the rear of the door, including an alternative route in case an exit is blocked.
If the fire alarm sounds, it will be a continuous tone and the fire assembly point is on the opposite side of the road from the building. No steps are involved from the upper or lower floor escape routes unless the primary route is blocked.
Smoke detectors
Fitted throughout the building, including in each guest room.
